Medieval Grunt

Starting the process of creating new art for my concept portfolio. I’m breaking the new content up by fantasy, modern, and Scifi themes. So starting in fantasy and working my way forward in the time line.
I will go ahead and state that the designs are focused for low end platformed games: handhelds, social media sites, etc. So I’m being conscience of the limitations. This means the designs are going to be stylized and angular. Rounded surfaces are used sparingly so they don’t hog the polygon count for the 3d model.

End of the Winter Quarter

Hi Everybody!! So it's the end of my first quarter at SCAD so you know what that means? New Art!!! The first group of images was all geared towards a story pitch where we had to create a synopsis, 2 characters, 2 environments, and 2 vehicles.

So just a quick premise on the story: Its about a girl who finds a opportunity to turn her family's once famous airplane company around by entering a competition to compete for a government contract to create the military's next long distance tactical fight.

So with the look I really wanted to focus on the 40's and 50's flight and art deco style.

Protagonist

Antagonist
Antagonist Hanger
Protagonist Hanger
Antagonist Plane
Protagonist Plane
----------------
These environments have nothing to do with the above story. This was a previous assignment that I forgot to post where the class had to create two environments. Both environments are supposed to be different locations of the same world. My inpiration was the Jupiter's orbiting satellite Europa which is covered in ice sheets and has a low level of oxygen. Scientist predict that there could be life between the ice sheets due to the water being warm enough from the friction created water tides between the ice sheets. Fun science stuff!!

Concept Project 2

Create two vehicles with the same purpose. One is organic base and the other mechanical.

So my goal was to make two earth moving vehicles.

I had a lot of fun with this assignment. I just enjoy thinking out how vehicles are put together and what their function/purpose could be. I totally want to make a toy line out of the organic vehicle. So if anyone out their wants to fund my venture let me know. haha

First Concept Project

Final version of my first concept project. The goal was to create two combatants through exploration silhouette, value, and then color. I had trouble with it at first because I tried to create a complex story. The decision was made to keep it simple.

As for how things are going with starting school again I think I am finally getting my sea legs and not freaking out as much. Still suck on the story side of sequential. I hope the concepts of creating a good story sinks into my thick skull in time. Just like drawing its all about practice and applying the material. Wish me luck!
