Getting back into 3D

A quick few second lip sync. It was actually more fun than I thought it would be because the last time I used a 3D program was five years ago, but back then I was still figuring out how to Animate as well as learning a technically heavy program. Present day I have a better grasp of animation making things easier.

Out with 2013 and in with 2014

The comic I've been working on for most of 2013 is posted as a link to a Google Drive Viewer at the top of the Comic's page. Also check out the Animation page because I made some changes there as well. Enjoy!

Firefly Animation

This is a animation that I just completed. As with the previous animations I learned a lot. For example one thing that I noticed when I first captured the animation is that it felt 'off'. After fiddling with it and getting some opinions from my friends we concluded that the timing was too even and kind of bland out the animation. So made some tweaks and got it looking a little better.

So how do I get better at my timing? Thankfully after watching Animation Mentor's Tips and Tricks I was like 'Oh, yeah I should probably start doing video reference and invest in a stop watch'. Duh!! I used to do it when I was in college, but got out of the good habit. I was getting too worried about the quality of the drawing that I forgot about the animation. Better not make that mistake again!

Old Animation

After graduating in 07 and moving to Atlanta I fortunately had the eye opening experience to relize that my work just wasn't good enough to get my dream job to be a 2d feature animator. That's like searching for a needle in a hay stack now a days. But, first I need to have the work to even consider pursuing it. So trying to kick myself in the butt and improve as a animator/artist.

This is animation I worked on almost a year ago. They are rough and have issues, but I thought it would be nice to put them online so the reader and myself can see the improvement in my work over time.
